ICON Venue Group is the client representative for the Pittsburgh Penguins in its development of a “first-of-its-kind” sports performance center and NHL practice rink, which is being developed in partnership with UPMC. The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex  will not only be the main training center for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but will also include 50,000 sf of clinical space for world-class orthopedic and therapy programs for injury treatment and prevention. Staffed with doctors, it will also include a concussion clinic, imaging, physical therapy, and sports performance training.

The 180,000 sf facility is being designed to allow for the integration of the training facility with UPMC’s performance and medical uses. There will be two sheets of ice with 1000 seats and 500 seats respectively. When the new rink is not being used by the Penguins, it would be open to the public for skating and other events.
