ICON’s team in Berlin was like family. They understood what we needed to design and build a successful venue in Germany and took personal pride in managing every detail. Germany is a challenging environment to deal with building contractors, but ICON developed positive relationships and commanded respect.

Description:
AEG extended its global vision of developing elite sports and entertainment venues to include Berlin and once again called on ICON to get the project built. Having won the prestigious Deutscher Meister Cup in four of the last five years, the beloved Berlin Eisbaren ice hockey team looked forward to christening their new world class home. O2 World is also home to Alba Berlin basketball club and is among the busiest concert venues in Europe. Located on 44 acres along the Spree River and the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall, the 16,000-seat arena was completed on schedule for its grand opening in September 2008 and more than €4.000.000 under budget. ICON selected the architectural team of Populous/JSK and builders HBM/Muller-Altvatter and directed one of the most successful project management achievements Berlin has seen in several decades.
