Description:

Seattle SuperSonics owner Clay Bennett retained ICON to support his efforts to replace the outdated KeyArena in Seattle with a new venue. ICON developed several arena design concepts on multiple sites, generated cost models and construction schedules, and produced a detailed operating pro-forma, all aimed at finding a venue solution in Seattle. With limited public and political support in Seattle for a new arena, the SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. ICON’s engagement extended to include representing the team’s interests in the $100 million renovation of Ford Center and the new $21 million Thunder training center. ICON provided the direct interface with the NBA on all venue and relocation issues and is the team’s direct liaison with the City of Oklahoma City overseeing the Ford Center improvements.
