ICON has deep experience overseeing complex stadium projects, including landmark venues in Colorado, and their input and counsel will be invaluable as we examine whether to move ahead with a new stadium at Colorado State.
Description: New 41,000-seat multi-purpose stadium Owner: Colorado State University ("CSU")Architect: Populous CM/GC: Mortenson Project Cost: $220,000,000 Status: Scheduled Completion - September 2017
On Dec. 4, 2014, CSU received approval from its Board of Governors to move forward with construction of an on-campus multi-purpose stadium to replace the aging, off-campus Hughes Stadium. The historic vote was the culmination of two years’ worth of deliberation on a feasibility study that ICON delivered in August 2012. ICON led the expedited study in 2012 and was also involved in a number of subsequent studies evaluating options for a phased stadium building approach and potential scope reductions.
Current plans call for a 41,000-seat facility to be built on the southwest side of the university’s main campus. The $220 million stadium will enhance the game-day experience through expanded tailgating options, state-of-the-art video and sound systems, premium seating and first-class concessions. An $18.5 million academic, advising and alumni center, financed outside of the stadium bond, will also be incorporated.
